STEAM, encompassing the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, plays a crucial role in shaping our society and rapidly transforming our way of living. To confront the complex challenges of the present day, the application of interdisciplinary knowledge to innovate and solve problems is essential, thus applying the knowledge of STEAM becomes one of the 21st-century skills. This year, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is hosting STEAM Day, providing a unique STEAM learning experience.
We warmly welcome teachers and students from primary and secondary schools to join us at HKUST and step into the world of STEAM!
STEAM Day Activities
Activities
This year’s STEAM Day offers an exciting opportunity for participants to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through interactive activities and hands-on experiences. Activities will be organized under the following four categories:
- Life and Environment (生命與環境)
- Matter, Energy and Changes (物質、能量和變化)
- Earth and Space (地球與太空)
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Society (科學、科技、工程與社會)
From thrilling competitions and robot showcases to hands-on DIY corners and fun challenges, there’s something for students, teachers, and the public!
- Interactive Game Booths / Project Demonstrations: Test and learn STEM knowledge with fun interactive games, or get to know more about STEAM projects ! Don’t miss the live robot performances - it’s a crowd favorite.
- DIY Corners: Participants can get hands-on experience by making their own STEAM crafts, and take home a piece of innovation.
- Robot Demonstration & Display from University Student Teams: Meet the student teams from The Dream Team Hub at HKUST that compete in local and international STEAM competitions and take a look at their cutting-edge robots in action!
- STEAM Competition Experience: Step into the world of innovation with a taste of major STEAM competitions organized by HKUST. Learn about our Underwater Robot Competition, where participants control a diving robot to carry out specific missions. In addition, we also have the Bright Future Cup, which features team-based soccer matches using soccer robots.
Major STEAM Competitions
The Underwater Robot Competition and the Robot Explorer Cup are organized by the Center for Global & Community Engagement at HKUST.
And the Bright Future Cup is organized by the Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers at HKUST.
